Case No. 2109: As he crawls across the floor, he lifts his head, his clear, innocent eyes gaze straight at you, filled with hope. This one-and-a-half-year-old little boy is named Lim Ka Hong. He suffers from developmental delays and malnutrition, which have triggered a series of health problems. He desperately needs the love and support of kind-hearted people.
At the request of his single mother, we are launching this crowdfunding appeal to provide him with a full year’s supply of special formula milk, Medium Chain Triglyceride (MCT) Oil, and diapers. The total cost is RM6,420. With your help, this adorable yet helpless little boy may finally learn to stand and take his very first steps.
At birth, Lim Ka Hong accidentally swallowed meconium and had to be rushed into the ICU. Although doctors immediately used a tube to clear it from his system, the damage had already been done, leaving him with long-term developmental delays.
He has been diagnosed with Failure to Thrive (FTT) and must rely on special formula milk and MCT Oil to gain weight and receive proper nutrition.
[A young single mother’s worry.]His mother, Khern Xing Yi, only 20 years old, shared her struggles with our social workers. With deep concern, she explained that Ka Hong cannot yet speak, has poor vision, and his legs are so weak that he cannot even stand, let alone walk. Currently, he is undergoing rehabilitation and medical check-ups.
During our first home visit, our social workers brought some essential supplies. They saw little Ka Hong crawling energetically around the house, exploring his tiny world. Agile but fragile, he often crawls too quickly and ends up bumping his head, leaving bruises. Mischievous and lovable, yet heartbreaking to watch.
Khern Xing Yi is a young single mother raising two children on her own, with Ka Hong being the younger one. To support her family, she works as a waitress at a coffee shop, earning a meagre salary that barely covers daily expenses. The high cost of formula milk and MCT Oil is an overwhelming burden she simply cannot afford.
