At 24, Ong Joo Yian’s right ear deafness has caused significant difficulties in her life and work. She often faces misunderstandings and even criticism due to communication challenges.
Case No. 1933: Being 24 is typically an exciting time to find one’s path and pursue dreams, but Ong Joo Yian’s hearing loss has dealt a severe blow to her career, daily life, and relationships, making it hard for her to envision a hopeful future.
The problem is even more serious, as her left ear is now slightly affected. The burden of all sounds entering her left ear has increased its strain, which may ultimately harm her hearing in that ear as well.

Since she was 18, her right ear has gradually lost hearing for unknown reasons.After a doctor’s examination, she was informed that her eardrum was severely damaged and only a hearing aid could help her hear. This harsh reality has shattered her dreams of the future.
[Occasional Mental Blank outs] As a child, Ong Joo Yian suffered from a severe fever that led to brain damage, occasionally resulting in seizures. This neurological condition sometimes causes her to fall into an unconscious blank state at work, her eyes turning pale and her hands turning purple. These symptoms worsen as the seizures last longer. This health issue has also led her to develop depression. She urgently needs a hearing aid to help her face the difficulties in her work and personal life, yet she simply cannot afford the RM2,500 needed for the Signia Contrast SP+BTE hearing aid. Therefore, she seeks help from us.In response, we are organizing a crowdfunding effort to help Ong Joo Yian obtain a hearing aid. We appeal to kind-hearted individuals nationwide to help.
