Case No. 1932: Rubanraj A/L Raman is a patient diagnosed with SCN 8A gene epileptic encephalopathy, a condition marked by recurrent seizures, brain dysfunction, and intellectual disability. Symptoms typically begin in infancy.
Rubanraj’s mother, Mageswary A/P Nyanaseyvan (42 years old), shared that Rubanraj was initially healthy as an infant. However, as he grew, he gradually lost motor abilities, with the symptoms worsening around age 12, and by 13, he could no longer walk.
Since birth, Rubanraj has had to live with this debilitating condition. He has never experienced a life like others; even simple and modest joys are rare for him.
He cannot eat normally, as he relies on a feeding tube to sustain him. Milk formula is his sole nourishment, and at 21, he has never tasted regular food. As he grows older, his condition worsens, requiring ongoing medical care and regular hospital visits.
[A Mother’s Gaze Says It All]To care for her son, Rubanraj’s mother had to give up her job, dedicating her time to his care.
As his condition worsens, Rubanraj’s ability to communicate has also gradually weakened. Although his ability to communicate has declined, Rubanraj feels his mother’s constant presence. Every day and night, she cares for him, understanding his needs with just a glance, giving him a sense of security despite his inability to speak.
Rubanraj’s father, Raman A/L Adakalam (48 years old), is a factory worker and the sole breadwinner, supporting the entire family, including three younger brothers still in school. The family depends solely on his modest income.
[Struggling to Afford Essential Milk Formula and Diapers]With the cost of living rising and prices soaring, Rubanraj’s father faces growing financial strain. The family has reached an economic crisis, but both parents remain committed to Rubanraj’s care. His mother provides 24-hour care, and his father works tirelessly, yet his income is not enough to cover Rubanraj’s essential needs for milk formula and diapers, which are now necessities and a significant burden for the family.
Feeling helpless, Rubanraj’s mother, Mageswary, reached out to us for assistance. With her trust, we have decided to raise RM5,412 to cover Rubanraj’s milk formula and diaper needs for one year.

RM176 x 12 months = RM2,112
Milk Formula (Everyday Milk, 1.5 KG)
RM55 x 5 cans (per month) = RM275

Total: RM2,112 + RM3,300 = RM5,412
