Description
Life is meant to be a beautiful, long journey, but unfortunately, she has been relentlessly tormented by illness. We earnestly appeal to kind-hearted people across the nation to extend care and assistance to Ms. Wong Yuen Fun, who urgently needs RM4,000 to purchase a breathing machine to prevent her respiratory condition from worsening, which could have dire consequences.
Currently, she is using a rented breathing machine, but the lease is about to expire. Without it, her finger joints turn purple, indicating a serious health risk. For her safety, she urgently needs a breathing machine of her own.
Case No. 1928: Ms. Wong Yuen Fun, aged 54, is a person with disabilities who has struggled with Basal Ganglia Bleed since childhood, causing severe damage to her health. She suffers from hormonal imbalances, gains weight despite a limited diet and is unable to walk or sit for long periods. Three years ago, she lost her sight, plunging her world into darkness. Recently, she has experienced breathing difficulties, adding to her immense suffering.
[She is resilient and optimistic]Though life has dealt her a hard hand, Ms. Wong has not given up on it. She cherishes her life and does her best to live each day well. During our social worker’s recent home visit, she lay bedridden yet displayed a resilient and optimistic spirit. Though she could not see us, she could hear our words of care and support, and she was deeply thankful and happy for our visit.
Her younger sister, Ms. Wong Yuen Ling, aged 51, shared details about her sister’s condition. Due to a past back surgery, Ms. Wong cannot sit for long periods. Yuen Ling is particularly anxious about her sister’s breathing issues and fears the thought of her going without the breathing machine.
Unable to care for herself, Ms. Wong Yuen Fun depends on her younger sister, Yuen Ling, who tirelessly looks after her meals, helps with personal hygiene, changes her diapers, and cleans her body. Due to Ms. Wong’s physical size, these tasks are incredibly demanding, and lifting or moving her is nearly impossible. Despite the exhaustion, Yuen Ling perseveres, believing in the deep bond they share as sisters and willingly accepting the responsibility.
[Their 84-year-old father also needs care]Yuen Ling’s challenges extend to caring for their elderly father as well. Saddened by the plight of his two daughters, he feels helpless as age has limited his ability to assist them.
In their family of three, Yuen Ling is the only one working, supporting the family on her modest income from her clinic job. Meeting daily expenses is already a struggle, and she cannot afford the breathing machine her sister urgently needs.
The current breathing machine rental costs RM300 per month, a burden on Yuen Ling’s limited income. She knows her sister needs a permanent breathing machine to recover with peace of mind. Unable to bear the cost herself, she turned to us for help.
We aim to raise funds for a Philips Everflo Oxygen Concentrator, priced at RM4,000, for Ms. Wong Yuen Fun. We appeal to kind-hearted people across the nation for donations. We also encourage everyone to share this appeal widely so that Ms. Wong can receive the help she needs as soon as possible. Thank you.
