Description
Six-year-old Ocean Ong Zi Hua is an active and adorable little boy, but unfortunately, he was born deaf and mute. He is now in urgent need of a new pair of hearing aids (headphones) to prepare for school and exams. We sincerely ask kind-hearted people across the nation to help raise RM7,000 to fulfil his wish.
His old hearing aids are already broken, and purchasing new ones is crucial for Zi Hua. He is currently attending a special kindergarten class, and next year, he is set to start first grade at a special needs school. However, he must first pass an exam to ensure that his learning progress meets the required standards for studying in first grade.
Case No. 1910: Ocean Ong Zi Hua is bright and clever, but without hearing aids, his learning will be severely impacted, and it could also greatly hinder his intellectual development.
His mother, Hew On Lee (aged 43), is deeply worried about Zi Hua’s situation. Her husband has been unemployed for a long time, and as a housewife caring for three young children, she struggles to make ends meet for their family of five. They are truly unable to afford the urgently needed hearing aids.
Zi Hua is the youngest child in the family. He has an older sister and an older brother. His eight-year-old sister suffers from asthma and often experiences breathing difficulties, requiring frequent use of inhalers. His seven-year-old brother has been diagnosed with hyperactivity and, like Zi Hua, is also a person with disabilities (OKU).
【Zi Hua is a Deaf-Mute Child and Communicates Using Sign Language】
Zi Hua was born with a lack of oxygen and was rushed to the neonatal intensive care unit for emergency treatment. After thorough examination, doctors discovered that he is a deaf-mute child. He received his OKU certification card at just three months old, and since infancy, he has needed hearing aids to assist with his hearing.
Now six years old, Zi Hua is incredibly lively, affectionate, and attached to his family. He usually communicates with his parents and siblings using sign language. Although he cannot speak like other children, he expresses his emotions and thoughts by making sounds in his own way. He was overjoyed to see the arrival of Da Ai social worker, happily playing with them.
He is bright, well-behaved, and sharp-minded. This age is a golden period for intellectual development.
【Mother Suffers Stroke, Father Has Been Unemployed for Months】
Zi Hua’s mother, Hew On Lee, was previously a patient suffering from depression. Unfortunately, earlier this year, she suddenly suffered a stroke. She described feeling dizzy, with her eyelids drooping and her mouth uncontrollably drooling and becoming crooked. After the stroke, she has had difficulty moving and can no longer go out to work, needing to rest at home.
Zi Hua’s father, Ong Thien Ho (aged 43), was previously employed at a restaurant, but he lost his job when the business closed down. He has been unemployed for several months and has yet to find new work. On weekends, he takes up odd jobs, selling noodles to earn a small amount of money to support the family.
Due to the family’s limited income, they are already facing severe financial difficulties, and the parents are unable to purchase the necessary hearing aids for their son. They can only seek help from Da Ai. We aim to raise RM7,000 to purchase a pair of hearing aids (Phonak Terra BTE UP) for Ocean Ong Zi Hua. We sincerely appeal to kind-hearted individuals nationwide to donate the necessary funds for Zi Hua. We also hope that everyone can help spread this message so that the crowdfunding can reach its target as soon as possible and help this little boy. Thank you.
