Description

A 3-year-old boy has unfortunately been diagnosed with acute leukaemia and urgently needs help. We sincerely request compassionate individuals nationwide to donate RM 41,579 to help him complete his chemotherapy so he can overcome this life-threatening challenge.

Case No. 1907: Little boy Koh Qi Hanz was diagnosed with Acute Leukaemia, transforming him from a lively and adorable child into one who often cries out in pain, shouting “No, no, no” whenever he sees doctors and nurses.

His mother, Tan Huey Ting (38 years old), told social workers that she feels heartbroken while caring for Qi Hanz in the hospital. Her son has to undergo frequent blood tests and bone marrow aspirations for detailed examination. Due to infection, the bone marrow extraction site has become purulent, causing Qi Hanz severe pain.

Accompanied by her husband, Koh Kia Ping (38 years old), Tan Huey Ting came to the Da Ai Service Centre, holding their exhausted son. Qi Hanz had undergone tests earlier, was feeling unwell, refused to eat, and had not slept well the entire night, crying intermittently and dozing off in his mother’s arms.

The mother explained that in August, Qi Hanz’s stomach became very bloated and hard. Initially, he could sleep without fuss, but he later began crying non-stop. Thinking it was just a regular stomachache, she took him to the clinic. The doctor found his condition abnormal and recommended immediate hospital admission for further detailed examination.

[The Diagnosis of Acute Leukaemia Shocks His Parents!]
Qi Hanz was admitted to the hospital on August 9th due to abdominal bloating and bruises on his right knee. Examinations revealed multiple lymph nodes in his neck and groin, as well as an enlarged liver and spleen. Further testing using FBP (Filtered Back Projection) indicated a reduction in his total blood cells and platelet abnormalities, confirming a diagnosis of leukaemia. He needed to be transferred immediately to another hospital for chemotherapy and a series of treatments. During treatment, Qi Hanz’s body began to change; the mother revealed that due to the medication, he started to swell and lose hair.

While describing Qi Hanz’s condition, the mother shed tears of heartache. His father, Koh Kia Ping, was also filled with deep sorrow and helplessness, feeling extremely anxious about his son’s condition. Recently, Qi Hanz was readmitted to the hospital due to a fever. Doctors found him in severe pain, requiring further observation.

The parents confirmed that there is no history of cancer in the family, ruling out the possibility of a hereditary condition.

[Six Children in the Family; Qi Hanz is the Only Boy]
The father, Koh Kia Ping, is a printing sales agent, and the mother is a freelance accountant. They have six young children, with Qi Hanz being the youngest and only boy. He has five very caring older sisters. Due to the medication, Qi Hanz has undergone significant physical and personality changes. His sisters asked, “Is this really our brother? Why is he so different?” The mother had to patiently explain his condition to them, holding back her sorrow. She cherishes her daughters dearly and treasures her only son.

Since Qi Hanz requires long-term hospital visits, the mother stays with him in the hospital, while the father takes care of their five daughters at home. When needed, the parents switch roles, with the father caring for their son in the hospital. This back-and-forth routine has been physically and mentally exhausting. Due to frequent leave requests, Koh Kia Ping’s job has been affected, and the mother’s income has significantly decreased.

All five sisters are in school, and the parents are struggling to support the family. Without insurance for their son, they are currently unable to bear the enormous medical and chemotherapy expenses. With no other option, they have sought help from Da Ai. The parents are hopeful that after Qi Hanz undergoes chemotherapy, his condition will gradually improve.

Entrusted by the Koh family, we have initiated a crowdfunding campaign to raise RM 41,579 for Qi Hanz’s chemotherapy and medical expenses. We urgently request kind-hearted individuals across the nation to lend a helping hand. Kindly share this plea so that the crowdfunding goal can be met soon. Thank you.
