Description
A teenager with cerebral palsy who is completely unable to care for himself urgently needs your help! We sincerely appeal to compassionate individuals across the country for a donation of RM8,736 to purchase two years’ worth of milk powder and diapers, allowing 15-year-old Cheah Puey Wai to live peacefully each day.
Case No. 1904: Cheah Puey Wai is an unfortunate child who was diagnosed at an early age with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy secondary to brain malformation, along with epilepsy. Two years ago, Da Ai assisted him in purchasing medical equipment. Today, two years later, this young boy has been hospitalized again due to a bacterial lung infection. His body is now even more emaciated than it was two years ago, which is truly heartbreaking to witness.
Puey Wai’s father, Cheah Ky Keng, informed the social worker that Puey Wai was urgently admitted to the hospital due to vomiting and breathing difficulties. He is currently still in the hospital undergoing observation and treatment. After his release, he will require extensive care at home, including a sufficient supply of milk powder and diapers, as well as regular follow-up visits to the hospital.
When the social worker visited Puey Wai in the hospital, it was revealed that his father, Cheah Ky Keng, was once a fisherman. Due to financial difficulties, he was forced to sell his fishing boat and start a business with a friend, only to be deceived and lose all the money. Currently, the family relies solely on Puey Wai’s mother, who works as a waitress at a nearby restaurant, earning a meager income to support the household. The father has taken on the role of full-time caregiver for Puey Wai and his two younger siblings, making it impossible for him to work outside the home. Due to the mother’s low income and the presence of two elderly members in the family, the household of seven is in financial distress, unable even to make monthly mortgage payments.
[Adults can suffer, but children should not!]
No matter how difficult life gets, adults can cope, but the suffering of children is unbearable. Puey Wai has been an unfortunate child from birth, having lost his health and never experiencing happiness. Despite his situation, he has a strong will to live and wants to stay with his parents. His parents, deeply bonded with him, are unwilling to let go of their child.
To live safely, Puey Wai’s daily needs for milk powder and diapers are essential. However, the family is already struggling to make ends meet and simply cannot afford this expense. In desperation, the father has once again turned to us for help. Our social worker saw the father’s pain and helplessness, a feeling that leaves one speechless and heartbroken. We have decided to assist Puey Wai once more by raising RM8,736 for two years’ worth of milk powder and diapers. The breakdown is as follows:
5 packs of Drypers XXL diapers (32 pieces): RM114 per month
RM114 x 24 months = RM2,736
Dutch Lady 6+ milk powder (RM25 x 10 packs): RM250 per month
RM250 x 24 months = RM6,000
Total: RM8,736
We earnestly appeal to kind-hearted people nationwide to help Cheah Puey Wai live a safe and peaceful life. Kindly spread this message so that the crowdfunding campaign can reach its goal as soon as possible, allowing Puey Wai to receive the help he desperately needs. Thank you!
