Description
Urgent! A premature baby girl needs heart surgery urgently to survive, or else she risks a bacterial infection that could worsen her condition and endanger her life. We earnestly request kind-hearted people nationwide to donate urgently to save her life.
Case No. 1883: Nur Aiyana Syafiqah is a premature baby born at 35 weeks and 6 days, weighing 3.06 kg. Since birth, she has been in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), receiving treatment. She now urgently needs a Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) ligation surgery. Due to the family’s poverty, they struggle even to afford food and are unable to cover the substantial surgery costs. We plead for generous donations of RM80,000 to fund the life-saving surgery.
The baby’s mother, Nelih Nurlelah (44 years old), a housewife, tearfully described her daughter’s condition and the family’s plight to a social worker. “We can barely afford food, let alone save our child!” She feels lost, helpless, and heartbroken, crying daily. What mother doesn’t love her child? Once home from the hospital, Nelih Nurlelah constantly envisions her daughter struggling against the illness, unable to eat or sleep due to her overwhelming love and worry.
The baby’s father, Rafiqul (49 years old), is a plumber and carpenter, working only when his employer calls. He is essentially a day laborer, struggling to support a family of seven.
“Our life is tough; we are suffering,” Nelih Nurlelah said. Only her husband works, going out daily to earn for their children, ensuring they don’t go hungry. Any money earned is quickly spent, and he must continue working the next day. They truly live a “hand-to-mouth” existence.
During our visit to their remote village, Nelih Nurlelah informed us that her husband recently had a motorcycle accident, leaving him unable to work temporarily, worsening their situation. Though he has just resumed work, he cannot afford to rest, often earning only a few tens of Ringgits a day with no guarantee of daily work.
The couple has five daughters. The eldest, at 18, needs to find a job, while two daughters, aged 12 and 11, attend a Chinese primary school. Their fourth daughter is 4 years old. All are healthy except the youngest, Nur Aiyana Syafiqah, who faces life-threatening conditions due to prematurity.
Baby Nur Aiyana Syafiqah, due to prematurity, has several congenital issues, including Down’s syndrome, a large Patent Ductus Artery (PDA), Anaemia of Prematurity, and Lactose Intolerance. She also suffers from respiratory distress and requires intubation.
Due to the severity of the PDA, urgent surgery is necessary. Medical reports state that PDA ligation is crucial for her survival. The surgery costs RM 80,000, an astronomical amount for the impoverished Nelih Nurlelah family, which they simply cannot afford. The husband is already three months behind on rent, but fortunately, the landlord has been kind and understanding.
Nelih Nurlelah has no special requests, only hoping her youngest daughter can soon leave the hospital, return home, and grow up healthy like her four sisters. She appreciates our assistance but remains deeply worried about their current situation. This helpless mother says the enormous surgery cost leaves her powerless, with nothing to do but cry in anguish.
Mother Nelih Nurlelah seeks help from kind-hearted individuals to donate for the heart surgery needed to save her daughter’s life. We are launching the crowdfunding campaign, earnestly requesting nationwide assistance. We also hope kind people will help share this plea, so the baby can raise the surgery funds quickly, undergo the surgery soon, and recover swiftly. Thank you.
