Description

Urgent help is needed for premature baby Pierson Yap Pei Sen! Pierson urgently needs the Palivizumab vaccine, commonly known as the premature baby vaccine, to prevent life-threatening viral infections. We earnestly appeal to kind-hearted individuals nationwide to donate RM18,800 to save this poor baby’s life.

Doctors have warned that baby Pierson is very fragile, and even a minor viral infection could lead to severe illness, posing a threat to his life.

Case No. 1878: Pierson Yap Pei Sen was born at 26 weeks, weighing only 850 grams. He has had to undergo treatment in an incubator for various congenital issues, including incomplete eye development, frequent blood transfusions due to insufficient blood, a hole in his heart, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, and neck abscesses.

During his time in the incubator, Pierson required intubation and additional blood transfusions through tubes. His parents were heartbroken to see their precious baby in such a state.

During his treatment in the incubator, Pierson’s parents visited him every day, hoping that their love and warmth would comfort him. At first, seeing their baby with tubes all over his tiny body, isolated in what they called the “life-saving box,” they couldn’t help but cry in sadness. They were unsure if Pierson would survive but silently cheered him on, praying that he could feel their love and encouragement and find the strength to survive.

After a period of treatment, Pierson’s condition stabilized, the hole in his heart and neck abscesses healed, and he was discharged to continue his recovery at home. However, due to his premature birth and ongoing bronchopulmonary dysplasia, he urgently needs the premature baby vaccine to protect him from serious illnesses, particularly the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), as emphasized by his doctors.

Pierson’s mother, Ng Siew Hong, shared that during her third month of pregnancy, Pierson had a near-death experience due to severe bleeding. An emergency tocolytic injection helped stabilize the foetus. Despite the high risk of miscarriage, the parents decided to keep the baby, undergoing further injections and a month of medication to sustain the pregnancy.

At 25 weeks, Ng Siew Hong experienced bleeding again and, after a week of monitoring, had to deliver the baby. The doctors informed the parents that Pierson had only a 60% survival rate and faced many health challenges. Upon hearing this news, the parents were heartbroken, realizing that after surviving previous life-threatening challenges, their baby still faced even more difficult hurdles. Despite the sadness and the daunting outlook, they refused to give up on their baby.

Pierson’s father, Stanley Yap Sian Koon, and his mother, Ng Siew Hong, are ordinary working individuals who also support elderly parents and two children (Pierson and a five-year-old child). They are now unable to afford the Palivizumab vaccine due to the high medical costs for Pierson.

We are crowdfunding RM18,800 for Pierson’s Palivizumab vaccine. We urgently request donations from compassionate individuals nationwide to reach our goal quickly and ensure Pierson receives timely help. Please also share this message to help spread the word and rally support for baby Pierson. Thank you for your kindness and assistance.
