Description
Urgent help is needed! Please help forward! We earnestly appeal to kind-hearted individuals nationwide to donate RM108,000 for cancer treatment for Low Yee Sing, who has had her entire stomach and part of her colon removed, to help her overcome this life-threatening situation.
Case No. 1845: The road to fighting cancer is extremely difficult and painful. Two years ago, the beautiful Low Ye Sing became very thin after being diagnosed with stomach cancer. Her cancer treatment journey is expected to end in March 2025. However, due to exhausting their savings and insurance funds, her husband’s sole income cannot bear the huge cost of immunotherapy. In pain, despair, and helplessness, we earnestly request everyone’s help to save her precious life.
37-year-old Low Yee Sing began treatment in September 2022, including chemotherapy and subsequent immunotherapy, requiring nasogastric feeding. The effects of the treatment and the feeding tube made eating difficult for her.
After active treatment, in February 2023, doctors believed that the cancer had been controlled to the ideal minimum range. Therefore, she underwent total gastrectomy and right hemicolectomy surgery.
[Difficulty Eating After Total Gastrectomy]
After the total stomach and partial colon removal, Low Yee Sing’s new challenge has just begun. She must adapt to a new dietary pattern without a stomach, which is very painful. She must eat slowly and eat less. Eating less means eating more often, causing severe abdominal pain, and sometimes vomiting while eating. Eating has become a challenge, and just the thought of eating makes her cry.
To get nutrients, she must eat, sometimes relying on nutritional milk powder to supplement her nutrition. Despite the pain, she cannot give up. Thinking back to the days when she enjoyed food happily, now she has to be cautious and constantly endure pain. When she told the social worker about her pain, tears flowed uncontrollably.
Husband Lee Kai Chung, seeing his wife’s suffering, other than taking care of her as instructed by the doctor, feels helpless and sad that there is nothing more he can do to alleviate her pain.
Lee Kai Chung is a Canadian Chinese who works for an IT technology company. He was transferred to Malaysia for work nine years ago, where he met Low Yee Sing by chance. Two years later, they created an intercultural marriage, starting a happy life together. Unfortunately, the good times didn’t last. In 2022, Low Yee Sing often had abdominal pain and was later diagnosed with stomach cancer, already at stage four! Upon hearing this news, it was like a bolt from the blue for her. Before this, she had been very healthy and never expected such a terrifying diagnosis. Cancer shattered her future plans; she hadn’t had children yet and still had a long way to go.
[Losing Health, Dramatic Weight Loss]
During the treatment process, her weight plummeted. She knows she can no longer be as healthy as before but still strives to improve her physical condition, longing to have the ability to see the wonderful world again and to relive the happy moments and details she once took for granted. Before cancer, she didn’t realize how much happiness she possessed. After losing her health, she only wishes to be slightly healthier and regain the little happiness ordinary people enjoy.
Liu Yuxin’s weight before cancer was 73 kilograms, which dropped to about 60 kilograms after chemotherapy and further plummeted to 40 kilograms after surgery. With her efforts to eat and gain weight, her weight temporarily rose to 52 kilograms, but recently dropped back to around 40 kilograms.
The cancer treatment journey is not over yet; Low Yee Sing still needs to continue immunotherapy. She faces cancer with strength, courage, and optimism. However, the medicine Opdiro (generic name: IV Nivolumad) used in immunotherapy is extremely expensive, costing RM18,000 per session, which is unaffordable.
As the cancer journey continues, Low Yee Sing’s savings from her bank job before falling ill have been depleted, and her husband’s savings are also exhausted. Since her cancer diagnosis, they have gone from a dual-income family to a single-income one, and her husband’s income alone is far from enough to cover the high treatment costs.
Feeling helpless, Low Yee Sing turned to Da Ai for help. We have decided to help her crowdfund for six sessions of immunotherapy, totaling RM108,000 (RM18,000 x 6). We earnestly appeal to kind-hearted individuals nationwide to come forward and help. We also hope that everyone will help forward the video to assist Low Yee Sing in overcoming this life-threatening situation. Thank you.
