Description
Please save the poor child and let him live a healthy life! A two-year-old boy needs to wear a fecal bag on his stomach for a year. We earnestly appeal to kind-hearted people nationwide to donate RM10,008 to help him through this difficult time.
Case No. 1815: The boy, PREMKUMAR A/L SHASHIKUMAR, initially suffered from liver disease and underwent a liver transplant with the liver from his single mother. His mother thought he would be fine after that. However, complications arose with his bowel movements, and doctors performed a colostomy surgery, requiring the use of a fecal bag. Unfortunately, his mother cannot afford to purchase these bags and sincerely requests assistance from kind-hearted people to help her son through this most difficult period.
Single mother JENNIFER A/P ANTHONY (27 years old) tearfully told our social workers that her two-year-old son has endured the pain of five surgeries, each one breaking her heart.
The boy underwent liver transplant surgery last June. Due to subsequent bowel obstruction (bowel adhesion), doctors performed a colostomy surgery, requiring the boy to wear a stoma bag (commonly known as a fecal bag) to excrete waste. Because of the boy’s liver issues, it will take six months to a year before the colostomy can be reversed.
JENNIFER is a single mother due to misunderstandings within the family that led to the breakdown of her marriage. She has three children, with her two older sons living with their father, leaving only her sick child for her to care for. Because her youngest son requires special care, she is unable to work.
The boy can only consume special formula milk and homemade food prepared by his mother. Both mother and son are currently staying with friends, but their lives are extremely difficult as they struggle financially. She cannot even afford the stoma bags for the boy. When our workers asked her about it, she broke down in tears of helplessness.
JENNIFER informed us that no matter how difficult it is, she is determined to save her child. Therefore, she donated her own liver to her son, an act of maternal love that is truly admirable. After the surgery, she felt a bit unwell, but the doctors advised her to be hospitalized for an examination. However, she cannot afford to neglect her own health while caring for her son.
Currently, her greatest worry is her inability to purchase stoma bags for her son. Since the boy tends to tear the bags, they need at least two per day. When she cannot afford them, she has no choice but to use diapers, which increases the risk of bacterial infection for the boy. Faced with helplessness, she reached out to Da Ai, hoping that we could provide assistance. Da Ai will crowdfund for the boy’s stoma bag expenses for a year. The breakdown is as follows:
60 stoma bags per month X RM13.90, totaling RM834 per month
12 months of stoma bags X RM834
Total: RM10,008
We are currently launching the crowdfunding campaign and hope to receive the love and support of kind-hearted people. We also hope everyone can help spread this plea for assistance so that more kind-hearted individuals can step forward to save the boy and help him overcome this difficult time and grow up healthy. Thank you.
