Description

He must drink special formula milk to sustain his life! Since childhood, the 14-year-old boy, paralyzed, only seeks to continue living peacefully. We urgently appeal to kind-hearted people nationwide to donate RM14,768.40 to purchase special formula milk and nursing equipment to overcome difficulties.

Case No. 1804: Harry @ Than Zin Soe Wai Yan was diagnosed with “Semilobar Holoprosencephaly” and is unable to stand up. However, as his body gradually grows, he requires special care, which his impoverished parents cannot afford. His parents have shed countless tears, but due to their deep love for their son, they have never been able to give up! Kindly help them!

The child’s mother, Thida Soe, recalls that when her son was born, he couldn’t breathe normally, and hospital tests revealed he had hydrocephalus. Due to the effects of hydrocephalus, he couldn’t control swallowing, so he was fed through a tube during his hospital stay. Before being discharged, doctors installed a gastric tube for the baby to be fed by his parents, which needs replacement every three years.

The painful years have passed for 14 years, and now Harry is gradually growing up. He needs to drink milk six times a day, every three hours, but regular milk powder cannot provide enough nutrition. He requires special formula milk, which is very expensive. His father’s income is meagre, and it’s already very difficult to support a family of four. They simply cannot afford this expense. They are heartbroken and helpless; hence, they appeal to Da Ai for help.

Harry’s father, Wai Lin Aung, is a spare parts salesman, while his wife, Thida Soe, is a homemaker. They came to Malaysia from Myanmar to make a living during the unrest in their homeland, hoping to find happiness and a better life. Unfortunately, Harry was born with a congenital brain defect, suffering from semilobar holoprosencephaly, rendering him incapable of self-care. He can only rely on his parents to take care of him, and the once happy family is now overshadowed by misfortune.

As Harry’s body grows, he now needs a medical bed. Otherwise, his mother struggles to lift him onto the bed, increasing the risk of falling. A custom wheelchair for Harry is also inevitable because his mother lacks the strength to carry him to the doctor as she did when he was younger. Due to his inability to self-care, Harry frequently requires diapers. Doctors also instructed that Harry use a suction machine for nursing.

The misfortune of their first child left his mother, Thida Soe, in tears. After much struggle, she gathered the courage to give birth to their second child, who is now 11 years old and Harry’s younger sister. Unfortunately, with her brother paralysed in bed, they cannot attend school or play together, leaving a great deal of regret for this family. Thida Soe is clear in her heart that as long as Harry can live peacefully, the family will be grateful without any further demands.

Seeing his wife’s condition, Wai Lin Aung often suppresses his worries about his children and the pain it causes his wife to comfort her, though he himself is also in pain.

When social workers inquired about Harry’s situation, both parents burst into tears, with the father choking as he narrated the circumstances. Despite Harry’s dire condition, the love between parents and child runs deep, and they are unwilling to give up on him. They cherish their son greatly, often taking him out for walks, hoping he will grow up safely.

To ensure Harry can continue living peacefully, at the request of his parents, Da Ai will raise funds for Harry’s medical bed, custom wheelchair, suction machine, 12 months’ supply of special formula milk (Nutren Optimum), and diaper expenses. The crowdfunding breakdown is as follows:

Medical bed: RM1,250

Custom wheelchair: RM4,000

Suction machine: RM900

Special formula milk (Nutren Optimum): 8 cans per month (RM85.90 per can x 8 = RM687.20)

Special formula milk for a year: RM8,246.40

Diapers (Pampers XL): RM31 per pack x 12 packs = RM372.00

Total: RM14,768.40

Kindly appeal to kind-hearted people nationwide to help Harry live safely, healthily, and happily. Also, kindly share this message for more generous people to lend a hand. Thank you.
