Description

Case No. 1802: Lonely and destitute wanderer Lum Thiam Hock passed away in a nursing home without any relatives to handle his affairs. We earnestly request kind-hearted individuals nationwide to donate to his funeral so that the elderly can rest in peace soon.

Lum Thiam Hock, aged 64, formerly roamed around the area of Sungai Besi in Kuala Lumpur. He had no fixed abode, often begging for food and money from restaurant patrons and passersby.

In 2021, Lum Thiam Hock was found unconscious by passersby lying by the roadside and was taken to the nearest hospital for treatment. Doctors diagnosed him with severe hypertension, and due to a fall, he suffered significant head injuries, resulting in confusion and amnesia. When his condition improved, but with no recollection of his past, the hospital welfare department had no choice but to transfer him to a non-profit nursing home for care.

On the morning of February 26th, carers at the nursing home discovered Lum Thiam Hock unconscious. They immediately contacted the hospital, but by the time the medical staff arrived, Lum Thiam Hock had already passed away.

As Lum Thiam Hock had no relatives to handle his affairs, the nursing home entrusted Da Ai with the entire process. According to the death report, Lum Thiam Hock passed away at 11:01 a.m. on February 26th due to geriatric disease.

We are handling the whole funeral process for Mr. Lum Thiam Hock, which includes body transfer, prayer ceremony, cremation, and scattering the ashes into the sea. We sincerely call upon everyone to donate to the funeral so he can rest in peace soon.

If anyone is interested in donating for the whole funeral, kindly contact any social workers at Da Ai for more information. Thank you.

Mr. Lum Thiam Hock’s prayer ceremony will be held at Kwong Tong Funeral Parlour (Hall XX) in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, followed by cremation on Thursday, February 29, 2024. The ashes will be scattered into the sea, allowing the departed to return to the embrace of nature.
