Facing this harsh reality, the young student, Pang Kok Wai, is in desperate need of help. Unable to stand or walk, he is confronted with the crisis of disability. He earnestly appeals to compassionate individuals to donate RM10,000 to assist in purchasing the necessary medical equipment for his surgery, as well as covering subsequent medical and rehabilitation expenses.
Case No. 1793: An 18-year-old young man with a bright future suffered a fall during a running exercise on the school field over a year ago. Since then, he has struggled to climb stairs, even with crutches. Now, he is completely immobilized, having taken a half-year hiatus from school and facing a financially challenging life. A heartfelt plea is made for kind-hearted individuals to help him regain the ability to stand and face the future confidently by providing the necessary support for medical equipment and ongoing medical expenses.
Pang Kok Wai’s condition is not a typical fall injury but severe damage to the spinal disc, necessitating a spinal laminectomy and fusion surgery. Specialized equipment such as “double hole interlink plates and drilling screws” and “inomed intraoperative neuromonitoring” is required for the surgery. Following the operation, Pang Kok Wai will need a wheelchair, an air cushion bed, and other rehabilitation equipment, but his family is unable to bear these costs.
After Pang Kok Wai injured his thigh in 2022, the pain persisted for weeks and worsened over time. Numerous clinic visits and medications proved ineffective, leading to sleepless nights due to excruciating pain. Due to almost continuous pain 24 hours a day, he is forced to rely on painkillers to alleviate the discomfort.
By the end of 2023, his condition had deteriorated further, with him experiencing numbness in his legs, making it difficult to stand. Doctors diagnosed the issue as compressed spinal nerves and spinal cord injuries due to disc injuries, recommending immediate surgery at a major hospital.
The once-promising young man is deeply concerned about the possibility of becoming disabled and reliant on a wheelchair for life. He has shed tears, trembling with fear of an uncertain future. Let’s cheer and encourage Pang Kok Wai, inspiring him to face challenges with strength and courage and urging him not to give up! His parents hold expectations for him, and despite the difficulties, he must overcome them for a brighter future. Keep going, Pang Kok Wai!
Pang Weng Hong, a part-time ride-sharing driver, is troubled by his son’s condition. Seeing his son’s emotional distress and physical deterioration, he is deeply saddened. With a meager and unstable income, Pang Weng Hong, along with his wife, a homemaker, and their 16-year-old daughter, who is still in school, find it challenging to sustain their family of four. Unable to afford Pang Kok Wai’s medical expenses, they seek assistance from Da Ai.
With the parents’ authorization, a crowdfunding initiative is launched to aid Pang Kok Wai in undergoing surgery and recovering promptly. The crowdfunding breakdown is as follows:
1) Two Hole Interlink Plate & Drilling Screws: RM1,700
2) Inomed Intraoperative Neuromonitoring: RM1,900
3) Wheelchair, air cushion bed, rehabilitation equipment, and subsequent medical expenses: estimated at RM6,400
