Description
Case No. 1790: Mr. Tham Seng Kee, an elderly man suffering from terminal cancer, passed away in a nursing home with no one to take care of his funeral arrangements. A heartfelt appeal is made to kind-hearted individuals nationwide to donate to his funeral so that he can rest in peace soon.
Tham Seng Kee, aged 69, had only one adopted daughter, a 16-year-old. His wife had passed away many years ago, and the adopted daughter lacked the capacity to handle his funeral affairs. Upon learning of this unfortunate news, the deceased’s nephew sought assistance from Da Ai.
After receiving treatment and being discharged, Tham Seng Kee was placed in a non-profit nursing home. Unfortunately, he passed away on February 2nd, just a week before the Lunar New Year, causing deep sorrow.
The nephew explained that the deceased was his uncle, and due to illness and old age, he had been unemployed for many years. In 2018, the deceased’s wife succumbed to uterine cancer, leaving behind an adopted daughter. Fortunately, kind-hearted individuals helped take care of the young girl’s future life.
The nephew recalled that he was not aware of his uncle’s illness until around October of the previous year. At that time, he was informed that it was terminal cancer. Despite Mr. Tham’s active cooperation with medical treatments, unfortunately, he succumbed to the disease as cancer cells spread, departing from this world just a week before the Lunar New Year, which is truly saddening. According to the death report, Tham Seng Kee passed away at 10:30 a.m. on February 2nd.
Before his illness, Tham Seng Kee worked as an ordinary employee with a modest income. When his wife was alive, she would take on temporary jobs to supplement the family’s living expenses. However, after his wife’s passing and his declining health prevented him from working, his life took a downturn. Monthly living expenses were nearly sustained with the assistance of relatives and friends.
With Tham Seng Kee’s siblings being elderly and unable to handle his funeral, his nephew entrusted Da Ai to handle all the arrangements for his uncle’s funeral.
We are handling the whole funeral process for Mr. Tham Seng Kee, which includes body transfer, prayer ceremony, and cremation. We sincerely call upon everyone to donate to the funeral so he can rest in peace soon.
If anyone is interested in donating for the whole funeral, kindly contact any social workers at Da Ai for more information. Thank you.
Mr. Tham Seng Kee’s prayer ceremony will be held at Kwong Tong Funeral Parlour (Hall L) in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, February 3, 2024, followed by cremation on Sunday, February 4, 2024. The ashes will be placed in a columbarium previously purchased by the family.
