Description

Urgent Appeal for Assistance! We earnestly request compassionate people nationwide to donate RM80,000 for the life-saving surgery of a 9-month-old baby boy, Chan Xing Yu, to undergo closure of a heart defect and vascular clearance in the lungs.

Case No. 1785: Baby boy Chan Xing Yu is facing a life-threatening situation due to a congenital cardiovascular disease that poses a high risk of triggering cerebral thrombosis at any moment. He urgently needs two major surgeries to ensure his safety. However, his parents are unable to bear the enormous cost of the surgeries, and we earnestly request everyone’s support.

When the mother, Ng Siew Theng, was five months pregnant, doctors discovered irregularities in the baby’s heartbeat. Subsequent diagnosis revealed a heart defect and blockage in the lung blood vessels, leading to difficulties in breathing.

After months of anxiety, the baby boy was finally born. However, as Ng Siew Theng lay in the hospital bed, she couldn’t hear her baby’s cries, realising the danger he was in. She heard doctors continuously tapping the baby to help him make sounds, and soon the baby’s cries were heard. Only then did the mother find relief, knowing that her son was safe and able to breathe on his own.

Ng Siew Theng shared with our social worker that when the baby cried, his skin turned purple due to poor blood circulation. Doctors warned of a high risk of blood clot formation in the baby’s brain vessels, which could occur at any time, significantly affecting his quality of life and lifespan.

After giving birth, Ng Siew Theng would secretly cry in the hospital restroom, feeling guilty and heartbroken for giving her baby life but not a healthy body.

Unable to conceal her tears from her husband, Chan Zhin Ming, he inquired about the situation, and, upon learning of the baby’s condition, both parents felt devastated. The unexpected affliction puzzled them, as there were no such diseases in close relatives. Ng Siew Theng presents an optimistic front in public, but in moments of solitude, she secretly wipes away tears.

Recently, our social worker visited the couple in Kuala Lumpur, entering an old ancestral house where they lead a challenging life. The wooden house floods during heavy rain, and rainwater seeps through cracks in the ceiling, affecting their daily lives. The concrete floor inside has numerous cracks due to long-term neglect, and the living conditions are poor and disorderly. The baby sleeps on a hammock inside the room.

Mr. Chan Zhin Ming sells buns and dim sum during the day in a pasar, and in his free time, he works part-time as a Grab driver. Despite his diligence, the income is meagre, making it challenging to support a family of four. His wife is a homemaker, taking care of the child, and an elderly mother-in-law, is unable to work outside to supplement the family income.

Their baby boy, Chen Xing Yu, is lively and adorable; he is the couple’s first child. The baby’s round eyes gaze at strangers, and he playfully moves his hands, charming everyone. Despite the beautiful beginning of a new life, the baby is unaware of the threat to his life, while anxiety is evident on the faces of the parents. When Ng Siew Theng shared her son’s condition with our social worker, tears flowed uncontrollably.

The baby urgently needs surgery to close the heart defect and clear the lung blood vessels. Due to the urgent nature of the condition, waiting for scheduling at a government hospital would take too long. Therefore, the baby is being taken to a private hospital, and the estimated cost of the surgery is RM80,000. Faced with such a substantial surgical cost, the couple is genuinely helpless. The head of the household works two jobs every day to barely sustain the family, and, unfortunately, they have no choice but to seek help from Da Ai.

On behalf of the parents, we have decided to launch a crowdfunding campaign, hoping that compassionate people can help raise funds for the life-saving surgery of this lively and lovely baby. Time is of the essence in saving lives, and we also hope that kind-hearted individuals will help spread this plea for assistance, allowing the baby to receive help quickly and avoiding a life-threatening situation. Thank you.
