Description

Urgent appeal for assistance! We earnestly request prompt assistance in treating 3-year-old Chong Mei Eng’s leukemia. She urgently needs RM52,000 for chemotherapy to prevent the worsening of her condition, which could have devastating consequences!

Case No. 1775: Chong Mei Eng, a lively and spirited little girl, started experiencing persistent high fever, body aches, and fatigue in September of this year. She was taken to the hospital, where it was confirmed that she has leukemia. Thankfully, it was detected early, and there are no tumors on her body, but timely treatment is crucial to prevent the deterioration of her condition. Her parents are unable to bear the substantial costs and appeal to compassionate individuals to urgently contribute and save their daughter.

After being diagnosed, Chong Mei Eng is in a very weakened state. As the local hospital lacks adequate facilities, she was urgently transferred to a large children’s hospital for treatment. Doctors confirmed that she is suffering from Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (B-Cell ALL), commonly known as leukemia.

Upon hearing the news of their daughter’s leukemia, Mei Eng’s parents were devastated. They are struggling to accept this reality and are extremely anxious because leukemia does not heal naturally. Their daughter must receive timely treatment, as any deterioration in her condition could pose a life-threatening risk.

[Mother and sister in tears]——Mei Eng’s mother, Chin Quee Keong (42 years old), tearfully shared during a visit that Mei Eng underwent the first round of chemotherapy in September due to the urgency of her condition.

Ms. Chin Quee Keong revealed that during the initial chemotherapy, Mei Eng had to undergo frequent blood tests and injections, sometimes as many as four or five times a day. This caused their once lively and adorable daughter to lose her laughter, as she found the injections painful and would cry. It is heartbreaking for a 3-year-old to face such pain daily, leading to a decreased appetite, vomiting, and rapid weight loss. She, as a mother, finds this situation unbearable and heartbreaking, shedding tears uncontrollably.

Mei Eng’s elder sister, Chong Mei Yi (19 years old), seeing her mother’s grief, is also unable to hold back tears. Mei Yi added that Mei Eng has lost large clumps of hair, leaving many strands on the bed. This sight is incredibly distressing and helpless. To prevent Mei Eng from accidentally swallowing her hair, they had no choice but to shave her head.

The once-obedient Mei Eng has turned bald, causing even more affection and heartache for her mother and elder sister. During the home visit, they held Mei Eng tightly, revealing the precious bond of family affection. The mother and daughter tearfully implore kind-hearted individuals to lend their support and save Mei Eng.

According to medical reports, the chemotherapy initiated in September will continue until next year, with an expected total cost of RM52,000 for four cycles. The duration of chemotherapy beyond this period will depend on Mei Eng’s ongoing health condition and response. Mei Eng cannot afford to give up on chemotherapy for a chance at recovery.

[Family’s breadwinner earns meagre income, unable to afford chemotherapy costs] —–The family’s main breadwinner, Mei Eng’s father, Chong Teck Hin (46 years old), works as an air conditioner installation technician in Singapore. The livelihood of their family of five relies solely on his meagre income. Mei Eng’s mother, Chin Quee Keong, is a homemaker, and the couple has three daughters. Mei Eng, the youngest, is the one affected by the illness, and the second daughter is still in secondary school. Mei Yi, the elder daughter, has forgone work to assist her mother in taking care of her ailing sister and managing her medical appointments.

Due to the family’s reliance on the father’s income, which barely sustains their everyday expenses, they have no savings and are unable to cope with the substantial costs of chemotherapy. In their profound sadness and helplessness, they seek assistance from Da Ai. They hope that we can help raise the necessary RM52,000 for Mei Eng’s chemotherapy.

On behalf of the parents, Da Ai is launching a nationwide crowdfunding campaign, appealing to compassionate individuals to help save Mei Eng’s precious life so that she can overcome the illness and grow up healthily and happily. Kindly spread the message and encourage more kind-hearted individuals to lend a helping hand. Thank you.
