Description
Case No. 1749: Our heartfelt plea for assistance in arranging the funeral of Tan Swee Kiat, who tragically passed away in the hospital before the Mid-Autumn Festival. Due to dire financial circumstances, we humbly request your generous donations.
Tan Swee Kiat, a diligent mother, suddenly departed due to illness, leaving her children unprepared and financially incapable of bearing the unexpected funeral costs. We earnestly implore kind-hearted individuals to contribute as they can so that she can rest in peace soon.
At the age of 57, Tan Swee Kiat was admitted to the hospital in August, with her condition fluctuating, and she was placed in the intensive care unit several times. Unfortunately, she succumbed to the illness in the hospital, leaving her family in deep sorrow.
Her younger daughter, Yeong Yoke Chien, shared that her mother had been facing immune system issues for the past three years. Despite three bone marrow dialysis procedures, the root cause remained undetermined. Her red blood cell count remained critically low, impairing the normal oxygen supply to her organs, leading to prolonged anemia and extreme physical weakness.
According to the death report, Tan Swee Kiat passed away in the hospital on September 20th at 4:52 AM due to Refractory Cold Agglutinin Disease (CAD).
At one point, Tan Swee Kiat was granted temporary discharge for rest, but her condition deteriorated suddenly, necessitating her return to the hospital. Ms. Yeong and her siblings fervently hoped for their mother’s recovery and reunion at home. Regrettably, their mother couldn’t make it past the Mid-Autumn Festival. The news of her passing was unbearable, and the family was left in tears.
Tan Swee Kiat and her husband raised three children. Before her illness, they both worked as shop assistants in a relative’s grocery store, known for their hard work. However, the store closed down, leaving them without income. Over the years, the family’s livelihood depended on the meager support of their eldest son and youngest daughter.
The eldest son had a family of his own, but his income was unstable and insufficient. The second son had learning disabilities and autism, rendering him unable to work. The youngest daughter, Yeong Yoke Chien, had to resign from her job to care for her mother. Faced with no other options, they turned to Da Ai to arrange their mother’s funeral, ensuring she received a proper farewell.
We are handling the whole funeral process for Ms. Tan Swee Kiat, which includes body transfer, prayer ceremony, cremation, and ash placement. We sincerely call upon everyone to donate to the funeral so she can rest in peace soon.
If anyone is interested in donating for the whole funeral, kindly contact any social workers at Da Ai for more information. Thank you.
