Case No. 1690: In a critical and urgent situation, a 1-year-and-6-month-old girl needs to purchase two medical devices to save her life. We earnestly appeal for donations.
Vethutha Sri A/P Alages was diagnosed with congenital heart defects and has had four abnormalities since birth. After undergoing four major surgeries, she still needs to use two specific feeding devices to maintain her life due to her congenital oesophageal atresia. However, her family is too poor to afford the two devices, which are worth a total of RM6,800.00. We appeal to kind-hearted people to assist and help the baby overcome this difficult time and grow up safely.
According to medical reports, Vethutha Sri suffers from cardiac tetralogy of Fallot, which has caused four abnormalities: pulmonary stenosis, ventricular septal defect, aortic overriding of the ventricular septum, and right atrial hypertrophy.
She also suffers from congenital oesophageal atresia with a distal tracheoesophageal fistula, which means that the lower end of her oesophagus does not connect to her stomach, making it impossible for her to eat normally and requiring the use of specific equipment to assist her.
Although in 2021, Vethutha underwent a right thoracotomy, ligation of a fistula, an esophagostomy, and a gastrostomy. However, due to feeding problems, she developed severe aspiration pneumonia and had to be admitted to the hospital several times. She must use a nasal tube and begin enteral feeding to reduce the incidence of aspiration pneumonia.
Vethutha has endured a great deal since her birth. She is currently undergoing pediatric neurotreatment after experiencing seizures as a result of an acute left parietal infarct, an acute stroke that occurred after cardiac surgery. However, due to nasopharyngeal reflux and right vocal cord paresis, she cannot speak like a normal baby. The baby’s illnesses and pains have caused her parents great distress and shock.
Vethutha’s father is an ordinary factory worker, and her mother is a housewife. The family’s expenses rely solely on the father’s meager salary. Vethutha urgently needs an automatic feeding machine and a gastric-jejunal feeding tube to infuse specific nutritional milk into her intestines for feeding. Due to her father’s inability to afford these costs, he has turned to Da Ai for help.
