Description

Case No. 1684: A 3-year-old boy, Adam, who has been suffering, needs everyone’s help to donate for medical catheter and nutritional milk powder costs to survive this difficult time.

Although Adam has undergone as many as seven surgeries for his congenital intestinal defects, he has not been able to escape the pain. Doctors have created a colostomy in his abdomen to excrete feces, and inserted a catheter to feed him a specific nutritional milk powder. Due to their poor financial situation, Adam’s parents are unable to afford the expensive follow-up treatment costs. We earnestly request the enthusiastic public to donate the required amount of RM46,020.00 to help Adam through this difficult time.

Muhammad Adam Thaqif Bin Mohamad Arshad is a lively and lovely child, but he is different from his peers. He has a fecal bag and a catheter, and when faced with tube feeding and fecal excretion, he cries in pain, causing his parents great heartache and hoping that he will soon be free from suffering and danger.

Adam was diagnosed with Hirschsprung’s disease (congenital megacolon) and bowel malabsorption PN-dependent (short bowel syndrome), which is caused by abnormal absorption of nutrients due to a short small intestine and requires parenteral nutrition. According to medical reports, Adam has a congenital defect in which the large intestine and rectum lack nerve cells and are unable to contract, causing functional intestinal obstruction. If there is a blockage in bowel movements, the accumulation of feces in the body can cause toxicity and endanger life. At the same time, Adam can only drink the nutritional formula designated by the doctor to sustain his life.

Adam’s mother, Nor Aisyah, did not feel any discomfort during pregnancy because it was her first time, so she and her husband were very cautious. Although all prenatal checks were done during pregnancy, the gynecologist did not detect any defects in the fetus until Adam was born full-term. Doctors then discovered that Adam did not pass meconium within 48 hours, as normal newborns do, and he also had severe bloating and vomited an unidentified dark liquid several times.

Doctors performed up to 7 abdominal surgeries on Adam. In the last surgery, they had to remove his large intestine and colon due to serious intestinal obstruction caused by Adam’s intestinal dysfunction. They also created a colostomy outside his abdomen and hung a fecal collection bag to collect waste. However, Adam’s small intestine was underdeveloped and very short and could not absorb nutrients from food, so he needed to be fed specific nutritional milk powder through a tube outside his body.

Adam’s father, Arshad, is a technician with a meager income, and his mother had to resign from her job to take care of him around the clock. Because the nutritional milk powder and medical tubes that Adam needs are expensive, Arshad, with his limited income, cannot afford them and has to seek help from Da Ai.

We are launching a crowdfunding campaign to raise RM 46,020.00 to cover the costs of the medical tubes and nutritional milk powder needed for Adam. We appeal to kind-hearted people across the country to help Adam through this difficult time and hope he will grow up safely and quickly.

Here are the details of the crowdfunding campaign:

Medical tubes need to be replaced every two years, or 12 in total. RM95.00 x 12 = RM1,140.00

Neocate nutritional milk powder, 17 cans (400 g) per month: RM110.00 x 17 cans = RM1,870.00

Two years, RM1,870.00 x 24 months = RM44,880.00

Total: RM46,020.00 (RM44,880.00 + RM1,140.00)

Kindly spread and share this post so that more kind-hearted people can help Adam. Thank you.
