The 6-year-old little girl Choo Wen Ci suffered from Large Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), that is, a hole with a size of 5 cm in her heart. She had to undergo an emergency ASD closure (to close the hole in the heart) to prevent her from heart failure. As her family is poor and unable to cope with the huge operation fee of RM60,000.00, the parents earnestly request the help of enthusiastic public by donating for her daughter to save her life.
The mother told us that the doctor had already described that the hole is between the aortic valve of the heart, which belongs to the atrial septal defect, as the hole is too large and will bring great danger to Wen Ci. In a more urgent situation, the blood of the heart has flowed directly from the aorta through the ductus arteriosus to the lungs. If the blood loss of the heart is too much, the child will pass away due to heart failure. Therefore, we sincerely call upon everyone to help her.
Two weeks ago, the kindergarten arranged for doctors from the government hospital to do physical examination for the children. When doctors examined Wen Ci and found that her heartbeat was abnormal, they informed her family. The mother CATHERINE FONG HUI YIN took her daughter to the hospital for a detailed examination. The report pointed out that Wen Ci had a hole in her heart, and the hole was as big as 5 cm. She had to undergo ASD closure urgently to save her life.
Wen Ci is also a child with learning disabilities. She was supposed to enter primary school next year. However, due to the congenital learning disabilities, her learning ability different from that of children of the same age, and her reaction was slower. Wen Ci has two older sisters, aged 15 and 13, both studying.
The 37-year-old mother CATHERINE FONG HUI YIN herself is a cancer patient with lymphoma of the eye. She works in a bakery. The father worked as a salesperson in an optical shop. Not long ago, he had an operation because of a gallstone that fell into a duodenum. Fortunately, they all have insurance, which can cover the cost of surgery.
However, as the youngest daughter Wen Ci was born with a congenital heart hole, the insurance did not accept it. The happy family was suddenly in trouble because the operation expenses of younger daughter could not be collected. The mother was very helpless, so she had to ask us for help to raise funds for her daughter to cope with the huge cost of the ASD closure operation.
Under the entrustment of the mother, we launched a crowdfunding of RM60,000.00 for the surgery fee and handled the process of the crowdfunding. We implore the help of enthusiastic public to save the life of little girl Wen Ci, so that she can undergo surgery and recover as soon as possible, and grow up as healthy and happy as children of the same age.
