5-year-old boy BEZAMI suffers from Hirschsprung’s Disease. Due to the poverty of his family, he lacked sufficient nutrition and care, his condition deteriorated after the surgery, and he required another surgery to save his life. As it is urgent and sudden, his father unable to afford the RM25,000.00 for surgery and medical expenses. Therefore, we could really use your help.
The little boy, BEZAMI, unfortunately, suffered from Hirschsprung’s Disease, which made him unable to defecate as normal as other children. According to DR NADA, BEZAMI had already undergone his first surgery on April 29 this year to remove the necrotic bowel and needed to rely on an excretory bag for defecation.
However, unfortunately, the gut of the excretory opening is subsequently infected by bacteria, so it is urgent to excise the bacterially infected site and then suture the excretory opening. Otherwise, the bacterial infection will cause more serious problem and even life-threatening.
During the examination at the hospital, DR NADA, the attending doctor, told the social workers of Da Ai that it was very difficult for the little boy to call for help because he was a Burmese refugee, and because his family was poor and living in a harsh environment, the child also lacked sufficient nutrition and care, so the situation worsened.
The boy’s father, CHO THANG, is 28 years old this year. He and his wife came to Malaysia from Myanmar with the help of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR). They already have three children and BEZAMI is the eldest son. Their family of 5 was certified by the UNHCR.
Their lives were vey difficult. MR CHO THANG supported the family’s living expenses from his meager income as an electrician, so they lived from hand to mouth. As the three children are young, the mother can only take care of them at home and unable to go out for work. After the eldest son was diagnosed with Hirschsprung’s Disease, their living became even worse. The father was unable to cope with the huge medical and surgical expenses, and the child’s condition was also very urgent. The surgery could not be delayed any longer. Therefore, they had to seek help from Da Ai.
Under the father’s entrustment, we launched a crowdfunding to raise RM25,000 for surgery and medical expenses, which including surgery to excise the bacterially infected intestine, suturing the excretory opening, and the costs of excretory bag and medication.
