Avery Yong Jia Qi is 2.5 years old this year, suffering from transfusion dependent beta thalassemia and iron overload. She urgently needs an instrument to remove the excess iron from her body. The doctor said that if the iron level continues to be too high, Jia Qi’s kidneys will soon fail. In order to save her daughter, mother Hew Pooi Yee implored everyone’s help.
Mother Hew Pooi Yee told us that she would wake up crying in the middle of the night because she missed her husband. The daughter has lost her father. The most important thing now is to save her daughter’s life.
She can’t live without her daughter and lose her love again. Hew Pooi Yee acts as both mother and father, and she will do her best to protect her daughter.
In order to save her life, Jia Qi needs to use a Syringe Driver (Desferal Pump) and Hyposensitive Thala Set four times a week for eight hours each time to help her get rid of excess iron from her body. And she also told us that the doctor found that Jia Qi’s weight was getting lower and lower, maybe because she didn’t eat enough, and she didn’t gain weight all the time. After further examination at the hospital, the daughter was found to have constipation, as well as thyroid problems and hormonal imbalances.
In addition, the doctor also confirmed that Jia Qi’s abnormal heartbeat is due to the hole in the heart, but as the body grows, it is hoped that the problem of the hole in the heart will gradually shrink, and no surgery is needed for the time being. At present, the most urgent thing is to solve the problem of Jia Qi’s thalassemia and high iron content.
Ms. Hew was really afraid that Jia Qi would leave her because of kidney failure. She is bound to take good care of the only child left by her husband. In order to take care of her daughter, she needs to take Jiaqi to the hospital regularly for re-examination, so she cannot work well. Before, she tried to be a nanny at home to earn living expenses, but she couldn’t continue because of the pandemic.
