Description

Due to the emergency, here is a request from a mother to the public to save her 26-year-old young son in order to receive bone marrow transplantation at prime time.

Ong Wei Wen, a young man who has a bright future, unfortunately, recurred from lymphoma again. His life is threatened, and he must receive a bone marrow transplant. However, the bone marrow of his sister did not match, and no matching bone marrow could be found in Malaysia.

Finally, he was lucky to find a highly matched bone marrow in Taiwan. But the family’s income is meager and was unable to afford the huge cost of RM108,600.00 for the purchase of bone marrow. Therefore, we sincerely ask the help of everyone.

26-year-old Ong Wei Wen comes from Seremban. He was diagnosed with lymphoma on June 25th last year. At that time, he was sent to the hospital by his parents for checking because of breathing difficulties. The doctor suggested him taking an X-ray and later found that he had a tumor (11.9 x 20.5 x 14.7 cm) in his body.

He is very young and optimistic and still has many dreams to implement. He hopes to contribute to society and repay his parents, so he doesn’t want to give up. He decided to face the illness bravely and optimistically and insist on treatment. Not only he underwent 9 chemotherapies and 20 radiotherapies (targeted therapy), but also CAR-T cell therapy.

After all the treatments were over, he thought he would recover. However, he did not expect that this year, lymphoma recurred again, and Wei Wen need to have chemotherapy with stronger medicine. The doctor honestly told Wei Wen’s mother that even after stem cell transplantation.

Therefore, he must receive a bone marrow transplant. More importantly, the bone marrow transplanted into the body must be highly matched and cannot have any rejection. Even if the bone marrow of his sister does not match, the transplantation cannot be performed.

After all the ups and downs, they finally found the bone marrow they needed in Taiwan. However, they had to purchased it for SGD36,200 (approximately RM108,600.00). This huge fee made them feel disappointed and almost despair as they don’t have the financial means to afford such huge cost.

Ong Wei Wen’s parents were originally engaged in the hardware industry, but their business failed under the influence of the pandemic, and they had to change their job and their daughter is still studying. Unfortunately, in addition with the recurrence of Wei Wen’s lymphoma, the family was in great pain. The parents of Wei Wen had no choice but to ask the help because of the cost of medical expenses.

Ong Wei Wen’s father, Ong Kang Hoe knew that Da Ai is ready to help patients solve their problems. So he entrusted us to share the situation of his family to everyone. The cost of crowdfunding was RM108,600.00 and we are authorized to collect the donations from all over the country and abroad.

After successfully buying the required bone marrow, the hospital will perform a bone marrow transplant for Ong Wei Wen. We earnestly request the help of everyone by donating for the medical expense of Wei Wen to save his precious life in order to help his family to get through the difficulties. From the bottom of our heart, thank you.

【Update 18 feb 2022】

Thanks to the generous donation of RM35,000 surgery fee to Ong Wei Wen for bone marrow transplant surgery, and stop donating.
Due to the urgency of the situation, Ong Wei Wen and his family accepted the doctor’s suggestion to use his sister’s bone marrow and gave up the original plan to purchase bone marrow from Taiwan, so as not to delay the bone marrow transplant operation and cause serious consequences. Although the successful recovery rate of using my sister’s bone marrow is only 50%, in order to avoid possible delays in importing bone marrow from foreign countries during the epidemic, the family has made this new decision and is grateful for the help of enthusiastic people across the country.
